This course aims to introduce the student to the principles of worship ('Ibadat) and the evidence for it from the Qur'an and Sunnah, and methods of inference in Islamic jurisprudence. The course will address the topics of purity (al-ṭwahāraẗ), prayer (al-ṣwalāẗ), fasting (al-ṣīām), giving Alms (al-zwakāẗ), and pilgrimage (al-ḥǧ). In each topic, he will discuss the obligatory pillars of each act of worship (al-ʾarkān), as well as the conditions, duties (al-wāǧibāt) and desirables (al-mustaḥbwāt) and discuss the nullifiers (al-nwawāqiḍ) of these acts of worship as required.
