Welcome to 805-090G8 English for Healthcare Services.
In this course, we will focus on the key vocabulary, use cases, concepts and skills required to pursue a profession within the field of Healthcare Services, using primarily the English language.
Healthcare services can include a wide variety of fields, including, but not limited to, nursing, yoga, massage, child care, elder care, hospice care, counselling and advice, nutrition, dentistry, sports training, pharmacy and careers advice.
All these areas affect human health, which is also sometimes called wellness.
The goal of all healthcare services is the same: to avoid or minimize unhappiness, suffering and sickness, and to promote and maximize health, wellness, happiness, and long life.
In this course, we will use research, role-play, presentations and teamwork to introduce some of the key concepts and ways of thinking about healthcare services, and help students to become fluent in the use of English to help with typical interactions within the field of healthcare services.
