Nowadays a number of devices with a variety of different screen resolutions are used to access websites. Because of the change, it has become difficult and completely challenging to design a website that can be displayed properly on all devices. In the past, most web designers have to design their websites to beautifully display only on desktops. It is totally different in these days that there are a lot more different display sizes that all designers need to be concerned to satisfy the user experience.
Plus, it is rather impossible to display all elements of websites on such small devices like mobile phones to be same as the desktops. In the early days of mobile web design, designers had to create their websites in 2 different versions; one for desktop and another for mobiles. However, it is not practical enough to support all different screen resolutions.
Thus, responsive web design technology has then emerged to allow web designers to code their web design once and can be well displayed on all devices with different screen sizes by using grid system. This course then should enable students to understand and apply the responsive web design technology to their future career.
